I am an integrative psychotherapist, family mediator working towards accreditation and clay therapist. I work with adults, young people and families providing support with bereavement, separation and divorce, co-parenting, empty-nesting, workplace stress plus perfectionism and burnout, identity shifts and the emotional impact of carrying responsibility for others.
Much of my work centres around change: the endings, beginnings and unexpected turns that can leave us questioning who we are and where we belong. I believe that many of the challenges we face make more sense when viewed in the context of our relationships, life stories and the wider systems we are a part of.
Understanding the context can help us to understand the meaning and decide whether we want to address it with challenge or acceptance.
I think that clay offers us another language to communicate our experiences. Sometimes it helps us to express something we already know but have not found words for just yet. At other times, it reveals connections, feelings or perspectives that emerge through the making itself. And, at some other times, it simply grounds and allows us to pause for breath.
I work with both traditional talking therapy and clay-based approaches, adapting the process to each client's needs. No artistic experience is required. Curiosity is far more important than creativity.
