I am a certified play therapist and a member of PTUK. I have been working with vulnerable children and their families since 2017 and have a play therapy private practice in Cambridgeshire, where I offer individual and group play therapy. Recently, I have also gained my provisional certificate in Filial Play Coaching and I am looking forward to working alongside parents/carers so they can build a positive relationship with their children and teenagers as they go through some challenging times in their lives.
I have specialised experience and skills in working with trauma, hospitalisation, anger management issues, attachment difficulties, self-esteem and self-confidence issues, ADHD and ASD amongst others. I use an Integrative and Holistic approach to help children to connect with their true self, to celebrate their uniqueness and to re-learn how to be in the here-and-now.
I use a wide range of play resources in my room and I believe clay has its own magical power for children to engage with their true self. When children touch clay and feel it, for me it seems as if it starts glowing in their hands. The image/symbol they create becomes their own language and their own story without any input from outside. I would say this is a process of searching and finding self, when an individual is able to symbolise their inner world through their piece of clay.
